On April 30, Courtney and I had an unexpected opportunity to attend a Steven Curtis Chapman/Michael W. Smith United Tour concert in Paducah, Kentucky. My sister had purchased the tickets so that she could take my daughter to the concert as a surprise to her. Unfortunately, when that night came, Melanie was in the hospital awaiting surgery. She asked me if I would take her and I did. I kept the surprise until we got there and when Courtney realized what we were doing her mouth dropped open and she said, "Are you serious???!!!" I shared with her the story behind the tickets and she had a sad moment wishing that Melanie could be there with us too.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Steven Curtis Chapman shared some of the struggles he and his family have been through after the loss of their 5 year old daughter, Maria, last year. They opened the show singing "Blessed Be Your Name" together. Steven Curtis Chapman sang alone on the first half and Michael W. Smith sang alone on the second half. Right before intermission and at the end, they joined together to sing a few songs. A fun part was when they sang each other's songs. For example, Michael W. Smith sang "Saddle Up Your Horses" and Steven Curtis Chapman sang "Go West Young Man".
A great time and all the thanks goes to Mel for making this memorable night possible. Love you sis!

Hi Christy, thanks for the message. As you can see I have not read my blog for awhile. I had a heart ablation on June 12 and have been busy this week playing catch with my jobs. I love the comments about your Mom Cox. It reminded me of the wonderful times I had with my mom in law over the years. I really miss that
