Courtney was off school this past Friday (Teacher's Institute Day) and today (Monday) for Columbus Day. Although this day doesn't seem to be as celebrated as some of our other holidays, the school kids sure enjoy it! My teenager wanted to spend time with her Aunt Mel, Uncle Dale and her little cousin Gentry. The weekend started with us going to the Froese's house for a fun hayride and bonfire. A fierce marshmallow war ensued. Christine was still sore on Sunday. I got pinged with one in the eye! However, I survived after my eye furiously tearing up. After we'd had all the fun we could handle, we went back to Mom's. Courtney left with Melanie and Dale for their house and Mom and I proceeded to stay up until 3 a.m.! What were we thinking? And we slept in until 10:30 the next day. After a nice lunch at Red Robin with Mom, Dale, Melanie, Gentry and Courtney, I headed back home for grocery shopping and spending time with Charles.
Sunday brought great morning and evening church services with a lunch for my Aunt Ruth's birthday (also our pastor's wife) in the afternoon. It was a good time to be with church friends and family.
Dad and Jared were in the Happy Hollow for the weekend (affectionately known as "the Holler".) They had tree cleanup and mowing to get done.
Today was back to work for me. Charles worked at the new house with Dale and Jeff until he had to leave for work at the hospital. Then Melanie, Courtney and Gentry met me at our new house about 5:30 or so for a peek around the house and so I could get Courtney back in the school routine. Everyone is doing a great job to get the house ready to live in! I can't wait to be in it!
I enjoyed watching Gentry run around our property and throw rocks in the lake. He is all boy and so cute and sweet! I'm proud to be his auntie. I love his new word "popsicle" that he's saying too. Makes me grin!
Well my post was a little rambling today. But sometimes that's the only way to get it all down. Hope you all had lovely weekends too!
