Hard Work/Good Times

There are times when you have the heart to blog and get it all down, but your mind is too tired to sit down and try to formulate everything into words. This has been one of those weekends.

First of all let me say how blessed I am to have such an incredible family who is pinch-hitting for me with Courtney. She spent the weekend with Mimi & PaPa while Charles and I worked non-stop on the new house. During this time Mimi bought her some new clothes which she loves and Uncle Dale, Aunt Melanie and Gentry took her to St. Louis where they got to enjoy an outing at Forest Park and then shopping at St. Louis Mills Mall. She spent the day at the church at Fall Festival and came home happy and sunburned! :) She's not feeling too well today. Some kind of stomach virus I think because she has vomited twice, but she is home in bed trying to recuperate. Anyway, before she got sick she had a wonderful weekend and we're so blessed to have you all to help out!

As I mentioned, Charles and I spent the weekend working on the house. Last week, Charles, Dale and Jeff (a guy that's helping Charles) started working on our front porch. That is coming along nicely and should be finished within a couple of weeks. We had a sheetrock team coming out today and so we had to spend the weekend doing all the odds and end jobs that had to be completed before the sheetrock could go up. One of those jobs was hanging insulation. It's not as bad as it was in the old days, but it was still a little itchy. Even with gloves on. We got through it though. With the studs covered and it looking more like walls, it's starting to feel more like our house! I am so ready to move in! But it will probably be November before we can. Say a prayer for us please!

We had a fun, impromptu get-together at Mom's last night. We were dragging into town to pick up Courtney from Mimi's so she could go to school today (even though she ended up sick) and we were also going to Lowe's. Lowe's had closed at 8:00 and so we missed out on that, but as we were coming into town Mom said that Ryan & Christine and Nikki were picking up food and bringing it to the house to eat. So we picked up some too and met everyone there. After working so hard in isolation most of the weekend it was a wonderful, heartlifting time to be with everyone. (Yes I said heartlifting. It did my heart so much more good than just an "uplifting"!) When Nikki came in, lo and behold there was my bubba Jared too! I was so happy to see him. I really miss him when he's away for most of the summer camping and I don't get to see him. Anyway, we were all laughing and hootin' and hollerin' and I said we all sounded like an Italian family. All really loud and talking over each other trying to be heard! It was a lot of fun though. Then we came home and crashed!!

Charles is working hard at the house again today. Jeff was able to come and help him work on more odds and ends stuff. It sounds like they are getting a lot accomplished. I plan to totally veg tonight! Nothing harder than doing the dishes or throwing in laundry. The recliner is calling my name.

In light of our country's economic crisis, I am reminded of these scriptures. I hope they will comfort you.

Psalm 27
13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (NIV)

Hey, Christy! I know you worked so hard this weekend, so I'm happy you are in that recliner tonight! You must find some joy in the fact that you're getting closer to residing in your wonderful new house!
Sorry to hear that Courtney is sick! Tell her I love her and hope she feels better soon.
Last night was fun, wasn't it! We are a crazy, loud bunch!
Take care...love you!

Itwas our pleasure to have Courtney hang out with us on Saturday. I am SOOOOOOO glad you left us with an encouraging scripture. I have been so uneasy about all of this financial crisis, and holding to that promise will get me through a lot of uncertain days ahead I know. Thanks for the reminder that OUR GOD is STILL in control of EVERYTHING! I am comforted by your words and God's promise.

Love you = mel
