I'm a little late posting this, but that's just how life goes. After Thanksgiving, the Christmas season is upon us with a bang. But I wanted to take a moment to go back and reminisce about our 2009 Thanksgiving.
We stayed in Illinois this year for Thanksgiving and the Sullivans were able to all be together for Thanksgiving dinner. Since we are all married and have families-in-law, this is quite a treat for us all to be together on the actual holiday. We enjoyed a turkey and all the trimmings made by Mom and us Sullivan girls. We have so many things to be thankful for. One thing we were particularly thankful for this year is that Melanie was able to be with us for Thanksgiving. Last year on this holiday, she was in the hospital enjoying Cracker Barrel turkey dinner with Dale and Gentry. So this was a true blessing to have her with us at our table. During our prayer we took time to remember Uncle Stan and pray a special blessing on his family. I hope they know how much they are loved.
After our meal was completed and the dishes cleared, we started pulling out Mom's tree and Christmas decorations. Thankfully she has a prelit tree and so we didn't have that task too. :) With the four of us girls working, we had that tree up and decorated in no time. Ryan & Christine hung the outside lights at an earlier time. So within a span of an hour or so Mom's house was transformed and we were all in the Christmas spirit.
Once the tree and house were decorated, a rousing game of Outburst started followed by Guesstures. Oh what fun we had! Looking forward to more game nights during Christmas!
On the Saturday following Thanksgiving, some of us met at Mom & Dad's country place and spent the day doing some yardwork and shooting things with a BB gun! :) Then we enjoyed a bonfire and wiener roast. Yum! Can you say s'mores??
It was a great weekend and I feel very blessed to be part of a wonderful family!
